Australia experiences the four main climates of summer, autumn, winter and spring. It co-ordinates with the southern hemisphere's season cycle but due to its geographical location temperatures varies from minus degrees in winter in the most southern parts of Australia and can exceed over 40 degrees in summer in the northern parts of Australia. On average the winter temperature is 10- 19 degrees and in summer 17-35 degrees with a high humidity factor along the coast line.
Australia offers all types of scenery, from the outback, red sand dunes to the beautiful beaches and the Great Barrier Reef.

Australia is known worldwide for its excellent produce of both red and white wines. Most wineries are situated in the Southern regions of Australia with it’s cooler conditions.
Restaurants and take-away establishments cater for the connoisseur as well as the normal family outing and foods from all over the world are available, especially Asian, Lebanese, French, Italian and Mexican. A very popular South African franchise, Nando’s has recently taken off and is proving to be very popular. All meats are freely available and people enjoy the finest quality of beef, mutton, pork and chicken as in other parts of the world. More exotic meats such as kangaroo, emu and crocodile are also available for the connoisseur.
Seafood is abundant, fresh and everywhere available. Popular varieties are Salmon, Barramundi, Snapper, Cod, Flake and Perch.

Australia boasts one of the best health care systems in the world. Medicare provides extensive cover for permanent residents and citizens while private health funds are also available. Hospitals have state of the art equipment and well-trained staff and doctors.
As for schools, colleges and universities, Australia has no shortage of these. On primary and secondary levels there is the choice between state schools and private schools, both of which have its own benefits to suit the individual. At least two schools are situated in most suburbs of every city.

Colleges, Tafe Centres and Universities are abundant in or near every major city and/or town. Approximately 150 000 jobs are advertised weekly throughout Australia in newspapers and on the Internet.
The unemployment rate in Australia is less than 5%. The demand for certain occupations varies. The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, from time to time, publishes a list of jobs in demand. Prospective migrants whose occupations are on this list have a better chance of launching a successful application for a visa. Such applications are also dealt with more speedily by the above Department. Australia desperately needs doctors and other medical trained people, skilled tradesmen and also engineers.

Australians enjoy the life that is the envy of the rest of the world. The friendliness of its people, sunshine and relaxed easy way of life makes Australia the ultimate liveable country.
The good weather all year round plays a big part in the fact that Australians love to be outside……. apart from having leisurely barbeques with family and friends, lazing around on the beach, walking the dogs or having an early morning workout on the boardwalk, they also love their sport. Cricket, rugby, netball, hockey and swimming are just to name a few of the many that are practiced casually and also internationally throughout the year. Australia’s fauna and flora are of the most unique in the world. Australians are also fierce conservationists as is apparent in the way that the very well-known Steve Irwin, aka “The Crocodile Hunter” has proved to the world. The Australia Zoo, situated on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland is the pride and joy of the Irwin family’s ongoing efforts to save and care for wildlife.
In 2006 the United Nations Development Program, in their Human Development Index, rated Australia as the 3rd most live able country in the world after Norway and Iceland. The USA was ranked 8th, the United Kingdom 18th, Egypt 111th, South Africa 121st and Zimbabwe at 151.
