SKILLED MIGRATION
Your eligibility for this visa is points-tested. Points are awarded for age, English language fluency, occupation and other criteria. To qualify for this visa the applicant has to be younger than 45 years of age when the application is lodged. The skills of the applicant also have to be assessed by an Australian authority before the application is lodged. A list of the occupations for which points are awarded can be viewed by clicking here.
EMPLOYER NOMINATED MIGRATION
There is a skills shortage in Australia in various occupations. Australian employers can sponsor migrants with various visas or under labor agreements. This can ultimately lead to permanent residence.
BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT MIGRATION
People with proven business skills are welcome in Australia if they intend to further their business activities here. People with sufficient funds to invest in Australia can also qualify for investment visas.
Usually an applicant who is under 45 years with a proven business record can apply for a 4 year provisional visa. During this period the applicant is required to establish a business in Australia which should then meet certain requirements set by the Department. If these requirements are met, it results in permanent residence visas being granted to the applicants.
Applicants over 45 years of age but under 55 years of age can also apply under certain categories, but will need State Sponsorship. Before such an application can be lodged at the Department, a business plan is lodged at the State Department and, if successful, leads to sponsorship of the applicant by the State Government.
FAMILY MIGRATION
Australia fully supports the family unit. Various classes of visas are available to enable parents, spouses and children to migrate to Australia.
AMVA will assist applicants to apply for the correct visa to help their loved ones also migrate to Australia.
Migrants who sponsor their parents to relocate in Australia can expect a waiting list that is very long. To try and resolve this problem, the Department has introduced the "Contributory Parent Visa" for which there is no waiting list at this stage. Parents who are in a position to contribute funds to the Australian Government and meet the other requirements can therefore now migrate to Australia with a permanent visa in a relatively short space of time.
STUDENT MIGRATION
Australia welcomes overseas students to study various subjects and/or courses at the many academic institutions that are available.
To undertake these studies one of the many types of student visas are required. Only registered courses qualify for these visas. It is also expected of a student to pass the studies undertaken. If a student does not comply with the requirements set the Department, a visa may be cancelled.
